Support Group Sessions are held first and third Mondays at Cuyahoga Falls Memorial Library from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in private room downstairs.  NOTE: If the holiday falls on a Monday-the group meets the next day-Tuesday.


HOSPICE OF VISITING NURSE SERVICE - CENTER FOR LOSS AND HOPE - Bereavement & Spiritual Care (Fairlawn)

The Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service Center for Loss and Hope offers progressive programs designed to support and assist grieving persons through the grief process. The following education and support groups reflect the development of healing experienced when redefining life after loss. There is no cost for these programs. If you would prefer to talk with someone individually, please call for an appointment. Evening appointments are possible. Most programs meet at the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service Justin T. Rogers Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron. Some support groups/programs require registration. Trusted Sharing Support Group Series is an eight-week series of classes for those who wish to learn what they might experience during the grieving process. Group members share their stories, emotions, victories and hopes. Group members can expect to receive loving support from the group leaders, information on the grieving process, and receive tools for handling the grief response.

Healing Journey Support Group is a six-week series of classes focusing on rebuilding life after the death of a loved one and incorporating hope. Group members will help normalize the grief experience through camaraderie with each other, the sharing of feelings/stories, support and providing an incentive to make new friends and develop new interests as soon as they are able.

Moving On Family Support Series is a six-week program for adults with children under 18 years of age. The focus of this support series is to address communication challenges, family identity, and to help focus on the actual loss for each family member. An art therapist works with the children to help them express memories and feelings tied to the loss. Call for dates of the next six-week series.

One-On-One Support is an option for individuals who either need more privacy in expressing their reaction to loss or who are unable to attend group meetings.

BEREAVEMENT SERVICES AT AKRON CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

Good Mourning Grief Support Series
The six-week Good Mourning support group is designed to help children and their parents understand and deal with feelings of grief resulting from the death of a loved one. During the meetings, trained Akron Children's Hospital and community professionals lead age-appropriate activities while discussing topics including death, the funeral/memorial service, feelings, and moving on. Support groups are divided into separate groupings for ages 5 to 8, ages 9 to 12, and teenagers. Parents/caregivers also can partake in adult support groups while their children meet in groups.

Precious Parents
A pregnancy and infant loss support group. Third Tuesday of every month. Conference Rooms 7 & 8 of the Considine Professional Building (across from the hospital); 7:30-9:30 p.m. Open group. Run by parents for parents. Also offers telephone and e-mail support and newsletter. Available for educational seminars. Sponsors "Pregnancy After Loss" series each spring.

GRIEFSHARE Â- Adult Support Group Â- Your JOURNEY From Mourning to JOY - Meets Tuesdays (began March 11, 2008) 6:45-8:45 pm, Room 200/201. Registration Fee: $12 (includes workbook-distributed at first session). *Participants may begin anytime during the13-week period. *Seminar repeats regularly. *Childcare is not available.
