Dale Pickard

CUYAHOGA Falls - Dale Pickard, age 93, died peacefully with family by his side on, Friday, October 17 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Dale was the loving husband of Betty (Binnig) of Grand River, Ohio and they were married for 68 years. Dale was born in Willoughby, Ohio on July 9, 1921. He leaves behind his wife Betty, son Kim and his wife Ellen Hanick of Newburyport, Massachusetts, daughter Penny Mann and her husband Richard of Cuyahoga Falls. Dale was a 1939 graduate of Willoughby High School. He served with the 13th Army Air Corps in the Pacific theater throughout WWII being discharged in 1945 at the rank of Sergeant. Upon honorable discharge from the Army he was employed as a draftsman at Euclid Road Machinery in Euclid, Ohio and then with the Terex Division of GM in Hudson as a Manager of Technical Publications. Upon retirement Dale and Betty travelled extensively throughout the United States wintering for many years throughout the southwest and Florida. He was an avid golfer and proud of his rose gardens. Dale was particularly devoted to his grandchildren, Carla Pickard (Brian Cardone), Jill Peabody (Scott Egan) and Sean Pickard (Justine McGreevy) all of Massachusetts, Kris Mann (Mike Thompson) of Streetsboro Paul Mann (Melissa) of Cuyahoga Falls. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Calvin Peabody, Kyle and Ava Cardone of Massachusetts and Sylar and Daphne Mann of Cuyahoga Falls along with many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call one hour prior to a 10:30 AM memorial service Wednesday, October, 22 at Clifford-Shoemaker funeral home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44221. Dr. Richard Hasler will be officiating. Inurnment will be immediately following at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
The family wants to thank all of the wonderful, caring, staff of the Gardens of Western Reserve and Vitas Hospice for their loving care. A post-burial luncheon will be held at 2:00pm at Bethany United Church of Christ, 1235 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223
