LaVonne Pannell

CUYAHOGA FALLS - LaVonne Pannell (nee Welker) passed away on Thursday November 20th just two days before her 87th birthday. She will be sadly missed by Paul, her beloved husband of 67 years. LaVonne was born November 22, 1927 in Cuyahoga Falls to Marion Bailey Welker and Norma Plum Welker and resided in Cuyahoga Falls all her life. She married Paul Benjamin Pannell on August 30, 1947, and they had 4 children.

Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gerald Welker; She is survived by her husband, Paul; brother, Robert Welker; children, Linda (Anthony) Bologna, Larry (Donna) Pannell, Denise (Philip) Jansen and Paulette (Harrison) Criss; Also missing her are her grandchildren, Harrison Criss Jr., Shawna (Ben) Austin, Dr. Stephanie (Nash) Moawad, Valerie Kirkland, Angie (Kirk) Robinson, Kevin Brown and 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Mom's most important mission in life was looking after her family. She led by example, and was always honest, compassionate and loving. She had many interests including the Falls Cancer Club, for which she was treasurer and auditor for many years. She belonged to Senior Citizens and the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary. Along with being a housewife, she was employed by the Ration Board during WWII, B.F. Goodrich, the Falls Theatre, Henry Ball Jewelry Stores (owned by her aunt, Helen Ball) and O'Neil's Department Store. For 21 years, she worked at the voting booth for every election and was presiding judge in her precinct. During their retirement years, LaVonne and Paul loved to travel and resided in Harlingen, Texas during the winter seasons.

Friends may call from 4-7 on Monday November 24, 2014 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44221, where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday November 25. Dr. Richard Hasler will be officiating. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Summa Hospice, 444 N Main St. Akron OH, 44310.
