Nancy Picozzi

Nancy Lee Picozzi, (nee Vrbovec) 82, of Cuyahoga Falls and Stow, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday May 06, 2017. She was born in Elkhart, Indiana in 1935, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Broucek) Vrbovec. The family moved to the east side of Cleveland, Ohio when she was a young girl. Their home was located near Euclid Beach amusement park, on Lake Erie, and she recalled it being like her huge playground while growing up.
She attended Collinwood High School.

Preceding her in death were sisters, Mildred Hahl, Evelyn Watters. and son, Douglas A. Picozzi.
She is survived by son, David Picozzi of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, daughter, Debra L. Picozzi of Winter Park, Florida, grandson, Ben Picozzi of Orlando, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy loved to beachcomb during low tide on Florida's east coast and was able to do it often when she lived in the New Smyrna Beach area from 1973 till the early 2000's. Nancy's careers ranged from being part owner of Italian restaurants and pizza parlors in Willowick, Ohio and New Smyrna Beach, Florida, then on to selling residential and commercial real estate, managing beach rental condominiums and motels.

Nancy was an avid lover of nature, weather watching, and was passionate about gardening, sunbathing, cooking, along with stamp collecting, picking through estate sales and playing trivia. She was always willing to sacrifice in order to lend a hand or assist a friend or family member in need of help. She loved polka music, Big-Bang-Theory, figure skating, lots of garlic, making pizzelles at Christmas time, and "gravy on the side". Later in life, Nancy enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, playing dominoes, rummy, poker, listening to Abba's greatest hits, Andrea Bocelli and Elvis. She always treasured her role as grandma. Her spunk and sense of humor will be greatly missed by her family, neighbors and friends.

Sincere thanks to the staff of National Church Residences/Bath Road, skilled care and assisted living, Western Reserve Hospital (ICU and 3-West), also Summa Hospice. We are grateful for the professional and skillful care that Nancy received from many caregivers during her end days.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be planned later at the convenience of the family. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
