CUYAHOGA FALLS - Susan Whitten, 93, of Cuyahoga Falls passed away peacefully on September 14, 2012 with her daughters at her side.
Born and raised in Akron, Sue and her family lived in Tallmadge for many years before moving to Cuyahoga Falls in 1972. She worked for Corning Glass, representing products at O'Neil's and Polsky's, prior to working 15 years at the University of Akron in Purchasing and later at the University radio station, WAUP-FM, where she was a favorite of staff and students alike.
Sue enjoyed cooking, shopping at Marc's, and rooting for the Cavs--even after LeBron. She kept a neat house and a tidy yard, tending her tomato and pepper plants until the week before she died.
Her husband, Karl, died in 1981. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Sue Wimett (Allen) and Pam Whitten (Dawn Plank); grandchildren Ben and Carolyn Warmuth; sister Anne Porosky; numerous nieces and nephews and loving friends Jenny Coder and Lou Anne Derry.
Mrs. Whitten has been buried beside her husband at Oakwood Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to Furnace Street Mission, Victim Assistance Program, 150 Furnace St., Akron, OH 44304.
