Faith Hansen

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Faith Arleen Hansen (nee McMahon), beloved wife of Kjeld Hansen, passed into the presence of the Lord on April 25, 2017 after a brief illness. She was 83.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Kjeld Hansen; her sisters, Carol (Ralph) Altstadt of Waldron, MI, and Jane Allen of Houghton, NY; and her brother, Art (Nancy) McMahon, of Tallmadge, OH. Her parents, Arthur and Arleen McMahon, preceded her in death.

Faith lived on an historic farm in Twinsburg as a young girl. The family moved to Akron, where they attended Lover's Lane C and MA Church. She and her sisters sang together, and Faith was a soloist. Faith graduated from Kent State University in 1963, and taught reading in both public and private schools for many years. She was also a well-loved nanny. In 1968, Faith flew to Denmark to marry Kjeld Hansen. They wed in the 13th-century Saxkobing Danish-Lutheran Church in Lolland, in a bi-lingual ceremony. They settled in River Estates in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for the rest of their lives together, but traveled to Switzerland, Norway and Denmark, and throughout the United States. Faith was a knowledgeable antique collector, with interests that included dolls, pottery, primitive tools and McGuffy readers. Her house reflected her interest in antiques, and was carefully arranged and decorated. She served as secretary for the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society for many years. Faith loved old-fashioned names; she would frequently comment on the names of people she met, and carefully named her dolls. She enjoyed arrowheads and interesting rocks, and loved to read to her nieces and nephews from The Boxcar Children or Nancy Drew mystery stories. She lavished attention on her precious cats: Samantha, Amber, Tye and Maggie.

The visitation for Faith Hansen will be held at 10:00 on May 4, 2017 at Clifford Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. The funeral will begin immediately after at 11:00. Interment to follow at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Haven of Rest Ministries, PO Box 547, Akron, OH 44309-0547.
