Robert Thom

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Robert M. Thom, 82, passed away at home on January 5, 2015.

Mr. Thom was born in Barre, Vermont in 1932 and moved to Ohio around 1935. He graduated from Hower Technical School, served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a die maker at the Twinsburg Chrysler Stamping Plant for over 30 years before retiring in 1987.

His main love was for his family, all of whom survive him. He adored his wife of 58 years, Ruth, who will miss him greatly. He loved his two daughters, Karen and husband, Jerry Duffell of Punxsutawney, PA, and Diane and husband, Martin Kyne of Boston, MA. He was very close to six granddaughters, Cassandra and husband Mike Troast, and Jacqueline and husband Ed Gaston, all of Punxsutawney, PA; Jessica Duffell of Ashville, NC and Monica Duffell of Pittsburgh; and Sydney and Halle Kyne of Boston, MA. Two baby great-granddaughters, Rosalie and Annabel Troast, brought him special joy. He also leaves behind his very good friend and next door neighbors, members of the Paul Urbank, Sr. family.

Bob was best known in the community for his love of dogs. From 1966 to 2006 Bob and Ruth operated Thom's Boarding and Training Kennels. He especially enjoyed the dog training classes he led for 40 years as well as training and showing their many German Shepherds.
