Barbara J. Mellinger

Barbara J. Mellinger, 88, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2023.  Barbara dedicated her career to teaching English, French and Latin, retiring from Crestwood High School in Mantua after 35 years of service.  Prior to her husband, Harold F. “Pete” Mellinger passing away in 2017, they enjoyed traveling, especially throughout Europe.  She was a long-time member of Pilgrim United Methodist Church, where she was active with the book club and cherished the friendships she made there.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and antiquing. 

She leaves behind, her daughters, Heidi Gray and Laurie Fronek; stepchildren, Diane (Steve) Shew and Scott Mellinger; grandchildren, Abigail, Audrey, Chris and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Milah and Layla; and many extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 6-8 pm at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, at 11 am, also at the funeral home.  Immediately following the funeral service, she will be laid to rest at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
