Bonita Lee Shertzinger of Cuyahoga Falls, aged 85, passed away in the presence of her loving family on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026.
She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, Donald Shertzinger. Bonnie is survived her two daughters: Tammy Lee (Thomas, who she loved like her own son) Hughes, Trudy Shertzinger; granddaughter, Nicole Lee Hughes, and Nicole's fiancé, Derek F. Chambers.
Bonnie was born and raised in East Liverpool, OH, and graduated from East Liverpool High School. After marrying Don in 1961, the couple moved to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, when Don served in the US Army. Returning to Ohio, Bonnie and Don lived in Salem, OH, for 10 years, where Bonnie worked as a dietician at the Salem hospital while raising her two cherished daughters.
Bonnie lived most of her life in Cuyahoga Falls, where she worked as a dental assistant and dental office manager until retirement. Bonnie and Don's favorite annual vacation get away was Myrtle Beach, SC. This annual family escape left cherished memories for Tammy, Trudy, and Nicole, including walks on the beach, breakfast feasts, and quiet cups of coffee at dawn. Other favorite memories include many concerts and enjoying the music of Conway Twitty.
She will be remembered by her family as a pillar of loving strength and inspiration. Bonnie's legendary culinary skills made family meals as memorable as the moments of laughter and conversation around the kitchen table. She was as adept at re-wiring a lamp or fixing a temperamental lawnmower as she was at fixing dinner, a truly remarkable woman.
Besides her beloved daughters and husband, Bonnie's true joy in life was her granddaughter, Nicole. From teaching her to make French toast, trips to the bingo hall together, or watching countless episodes of Golden Girls, moments with Nicole were the most special of all.
The family will honor Bonnie's life privately and she will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park, 16078 Irish Ridge Rd., East Liverpool, OH 43920.
