Catherine Allyne Newcomb, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026 at the age of 88. She was born on June 12, 1937, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harold and Loraine Flanick. She leaves behind a legacy defined by love, devotion, and music.
Catherine graduated from Garfield High School in 1955 and went on to attend Mt. Union College in Alliance, Ohio. She was a loving wife and devoted mother who raised her family with care, strength, and unwavering dedication. Her family remained at the heart of her life, and she shared that same boundless love with her four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought her deep joy.
Gifted with an extraordinary voice, Catherine was an accomplished singer who shared her talent generously. From early childhood and continuing well into the 1980s, she performed hundreds of times throughout the local area, touching audiences across a wide range of musical genres. Her passion for music was not only a personal joy, but also a lasting gift to her community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward (“Ted”) Newcomb, with whom she is now reunited.
Catherine is survived by her children: Lance (Holly) Newcomb, David (Sheri) Newcomb, Julie (Michael) Hannan, and stepson Richard Newcomb. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Edward (Sara) Newcomb, Denise Newcomb, Nicole Hannan, and Lila Newcomb; her treasured great-grandchildren: Abigail Newcomb and Edward Newcomb Jr.; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
At Catherine’s request, no public services will be held. Cremation has taken place, and she will be laid to rest privately at Oakwood Cemetery.
