Daniel Peabody

Wooster- Daniel Peabody, 93, passed away on December 20,2022. Born on September 3, 1929 in White River Junction, Vermont. Graduated Hartford High School 1948. He was a multisport Letterman.

He spent the majority of his teen years working on a dairy farm.

A 1952 graduate of Michigan State University, member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, and a member of the 2004 Top 100 AGR alumna.

From 1953 to 1955 he was a 1^st Lt US Army Korean War Veteran, 2^nd Infantry Division, 72^nd Tank Battalion. There he had command of 25 men as tank platoon leader on the DMZ in Korea.

After leaving Korea, he returned to Vermont to start working at the Seery Sand and Gravel Co. He was responsible for operating and maintaining all the heavy equipment.

In June of 1957, he began his career with Euclid/Terex Division of General Motors located in Hudson, Ohio.

He began as a factory service representative then into service training as an instructor. Later he became Manager of Sales Training. He always enjoyed being around and working on large earth-moving equipment.

He was an avid coin collector from a young age. He enjoyed Model A cars and was a member of the Akron Model A Club. Taking the cars to parades and shows earned him many trophies and ribbons for his “mint condition cars.” He loved photography and could always been seen with a camera around his neck. He shared many slide shows of his photography to various clubs and high school history classes. He enjoyed researching Peabody genealogy.

Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, and sisters Elizabeth Peabody Johnson and Carol Peabody Greenway. He will be missed by son, Dr. Daniel P. Peabody, III (Jodi), Jeff Louthan, Janese (Steven) Jeanette Louthan, Joy Petrey; grandchildren, Abigail Peabody, Grant Peabody, James Petrey, Rose Petrey, Kevin Nank.

There will be a visitation on Monday, December 26, 2022, from 4pm to 7pm at the Clifford Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Interment will take place at 11am, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, 2613 Sackett Ave, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
