Debra Walters

Debra Ann Walters (nee Leisek), 69, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022 after a short hospitalization with cancer.  She was born in Aurora, Colorado to the late Robert and Martha Leisek.  Debbie graduated from Akron North High School, Class of 1970 and the St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing.  She worked as an RN for almost 40 years at Akron Children’s Hospital in the Burn Center and PACU.  Debbie was an avid sports fan always cheering for the Browns, Indians and Cavs. She loved reading, watching game shows and spending time with all her family and friends.

Debbie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Larry Walters; sister, Carole (Rich) Ettinger; brother, Martin Leisek; nephew, Aaron Ettinger; aunts, Beverly Dannemiller and Carol Hopwood; many cousins; sisters-in-law, Susie (Jerry) Van Schoick and Debbie (Chuck) Wetzel; brother-in-law, Kenny (Becky) Walters; treasured friends, Debbie Popa, Sandy Salustro, Nancy Kaiser, Brian Spizzo, Joe Ziruolo and her dog, faithful companion Hank.

Calling hours will take place at Clifford Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221 on Wednesday January 26th, 4-6pm and Thursday January 27th 4-6pm with the funeral service on January 27th at 6pm following calling hours. The family is requesting all visitors please wear masks.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Summit County.
