Edna Luella Autz, 85 years, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
Edna was born on Christmas Eve in 1939 to Ross and Ruth Trumphour, and grew up in Boston Twp. along with three sisters. She met and married Frank Autz, a United States Marine, and the happy couple settled down in Cuyahoga Falls. They went on to have two children. Edna worked as a transcriptionist and secretary for People’s Hospital, and then Summit County Health Department until retirement.
From 2007-2016, Edna served proudly as the President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Charles Faust Post 281. An avid hiker, Edna loved exploring the outdoors. She always completed the MetroParks hiking sprees with her husband and grandchildren, and in recent years, she hiked with the Wilderness Center of Wilmot, Ohio – an “eating club with a hiking problem.” Edna also enjoyed finishing the daily crossword puzzle, hosting card nights and traveling with her best friends (June, Carla, Joanne, Mary, Patty, Louise), spending time with special friend Mike Purcell. The family would also like to thank her trusted confidant and dear friend Mark Fearigo.
Edna is preceded in death by parents Ross and Ruth Trumphour; three sisters, Elma Schumann, Kathy Bauer, and Leona Batchelor; and husband Frank Autz. She is survived by loving children David Autz and Lynn Autz-Tomlinson (Gordon); grandchildren Kelsey (Emerson), Eric (Delaney), Rachel and Trenton (and their mother, Christi), and Nathan (Mikayla); great-grandchildren Theo and Daisy.
Family will be receiving friends and loved ones at calling hours on Friday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. A small service will be held immediately after. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity in her memory.
