Edward Moore

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Edward "Ed" Moore, 88, passed away March 12, 2018 after a battle with Alzheimer's. He was born in Buffalo, NY on March 9, 1930 residing in Cuyahoga Falls most of his life. He graduated from St. Vincent High School in 1948 going on to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a 52-year member of IHM Parish in Cuyahoga Falls. He began his career as a department manager for 5 years at Yeager's Department Store. Then after 5 years of selling for the Prudential Life Insurance Co. he started his own dry-cleaning business, COIT Cleaning Services, which he has owned for the past 55 years. Ed was very active in the dry-cleaning industry. He was past president of the Summit County of Ohio Dry Cleaners Association and past president of the COIT International Franchise Council. He received numerous industry awards.

His sense of humor led him to be a Roast master emcee at COIT National Conventions. He also founded the Propagation of Divine Mercy of Ohio, which spread to 17 other states. Ed was an avid golfer and a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Indians. He loved playing baseball, pitched 3 hitless innings against Akron University in the inaugural game of St. V. High School.

Preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Dorothy, sister, Eileen Lucart, and his first wife, Kathleen, he is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne Moore who was by his side during his illness; daughters, Peggy Sax, Lorrie Sayer (Mike) and Debra Arnold (Steve); grandchildren, Jill (Matt), Johny, Jesse (Jessica), Graham, Leah and Julieanne; and great-grandson, Finley.

Friends may call from 4-6 pm on Thursday March 15, 2018 at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 pm on Friday, March 16 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. Pastor Thomas McCann will be officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood cemetery. In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 70 W. Streetsboro Rd. Hudson, OH 44236. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
