EDWARD JOHN PAUL

NOVEMBER 9, 1924- FEBRUARY 2, 2026

A carpenter, son of a carpenter, son of The Carpenter!

I was baptized at Concordia in Akron in early 1925, where my family and I were active members for years. I spent many happy and busy years in the youth organization, The Walther League. I served in the local, zone, district and international level. I served as chairman of the International WL Convention Committee when Ohio hosted the conventional at Miami University of Ohio (early 1950’s). I held most every office and was on many committees over the years. We transferred to Redeemer in Cuyahoga Falls in 1962 where my main responsibilities were to continue as Sunday School teacher and youth director-also church elder.

Finally at about 70 years of age, I was ‘demoted’ to teaching an adult Bible class. I could now keep up with my peers! P.S. Note I took 2 years of training and taught 4 years of The Bethel Bible Series. The Bethel Series is basically a lecture series on the complete Bible reading in 2 years.

We transferred to Grace Lutheran in 1995. I reduced my services to being a greeter, usher and Bible class student. About 2000 we joined Fairlawn. Same jobs as at Grace! Transferred to Prince of Peace on Easter 2009 and then back to Fairlawn in 2010.

In the meantime: I served in the US Navy 1943-1946 as an aerographer, including 18 months on the Aircraft Carrier, USS Tripoli. Eileen and I were married in February 1949. I graduated from Kent State University in 1950. Cynthia was born and followed by Mark 3 years later. Edward Paul Builders, Inc. was incorporated in 1958. I retired in 1992.

He was reunited with his loving wife Eileen Marie {Bam}!

He will be missed by his children, Cindy (John) Bresnahan, Mark (Cindy) Paul; grandchildren, Chanin Tyler, Sean Bresnahan, Sophia Paul; great-grandchildren; and many friends from Fairlawn Lutheran.

Per his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial visitation will be held on Saturday February 7, 2026, from 10am to 11am with a memorial service immediately following the visitation at Fairlawn Lutheran, 3415 W Market St, Fairlawn, OH 44333. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
