Eugene G. Brooks

Eugene G. Brooks 86, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2023. Gene was born on January 1, 1937 in Lonaconing, MD and moved to Cuyahoga Falls, OH in 1951. He attended Cuyahoga Falls High School until the age of 17 when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps with his best friend Bobby Flinn.

He felt honored to serve in the Marine Corps, 2^nd Marine Division and to have been stationed in our nation’s capital. He later worked for ADT security, volunteered with the Ombudsmen, and was a member of the Marine Corps League and AA. Gene worked hard to obtain sobriety and maintained it with dedication for the last 42 years. He enjoyed spending many mornings at North Hill Donuts swapping military stories with friends or anyone who sat next to him. His hobbies included finding treasures at Goodwill, DIY projects at home, feeding the neighborhood cats and tracking his family near and far.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer & Elsie (Coburn) Brooks, Brother: Richard Brooks, sisters: Judy Corcoran & Karen Duckwall and his eldest son Robin.  He is survived by his children, Susan (Al), Kelly (Dave), Lisa, Darla (Chuck), Christopher (Kelly), 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, his brother Randall (Jayann), his former spouse and lifelong friend, Darla, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the VA clinic in Akron as well as the staff at Falls Village nursing home and Harmony Hospice.

A graveside service will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery on Monday, May 8^th at 10am. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
