Gerald Wayne Clark, 59, of Kent, Ohio, passed away leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and grease-stained memories. Born on February 10, 1966, in Cleveland, Gerald never needed a certificate to prove he was a mechanic—his hands and reputation spoke for themselves. His nephew Chris often said there wasn’t a car Uncle Gerald couldn’t fix, and anyone who knew him would agree.
He worked tirelessly, body and soul, on cars for most of his life. Gerald would’ve proudly (and with a smirk) said his greatest accomplishments were his kids, “in spite of him.” He loved being the center of attention, drawing people in with his big personality and quick wit.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Valerie Morehead; children, Heather (Christopher Watters), Timothy (Briana) Clark, Brian Clark, and Jennifer Clark; grandchildren, Davin, Caleb, and Addie; nephew, Christopher Morehead; and nieces, Lisa and Candice. He is reunited in peace with his parents and multiple siblings who went before him.
Gerald will be remembered for his smart mouth, endless jokes, and his ability to take apart—and usually fix—anything with wheels. His legacy lives on every time a wrench is turned, a laugh is shared, and a memory of “that one time with Gerald” is told again.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 3:00pm- 5:00pm.
