Gerald Richard Lewis was a good man who loved God, his family, friends, his church and life in general. He left us at age 77 on 3/30/23 after a short valiant struggle with cancer. Raised on a farm in Findlay, OH by parents, Ray and Edna Lewis, he never lost his love of that life, enjoying the outdoors by caring for his garden and yard, feeding the birds, and exploring our country’s parks. He was a lifelong reader of all types of books and especially those about the Civil War era. He earned a BA degree at Otterbein University and a double Masters of Education and Divinity from Methodist Theological School of Ohio. He served as an Ordained United Methodist Minister in NE Ohio, a Dean of Education at Southern Ohio College NE, and had been employed at Billow Falls Chapel. He was a very active member of First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls, where he once served as youth pastor, the Silver Lake Singers and Cuyahoga Falls Strollers.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters Martha Casteel and Marilyn Lehman. He left behind his wife, Carol, and his children, Michael (Alison) Lewis, Linda (Jeremy) Neece, Lee (Melanie) Furry, Lynne (Larry) Beck, Christopher Furry, Erin (Jim) Orsine and grandchildren Jillian, Alden, Madeleine, Kendall, Addison, Aaron (Valerie), Emma, Grant, Holly and his brother, Donald (Dorothy) Lewis.
On Saturday, April 22 a visiting hour will take place at 1 pm at First United Methodist Church, 245 W. Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, followed by a Service of Celebration at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Music Ministry of the church will be appreciated.
