Gloria F. Sixt

Gloria Faye (Smith) Sixt was received home by her parents H. Lee & Edna O. Smith, sister Paula Richards, her sons Ricky L. Sixt & Randy J. Sixt, and good friends on June 11, 2025.

She is survived by Daughter-in-law Shaire, beloved grandchildren Andrew (Amber), Alexandre (Greg), Arryn, & Aschertyn, great grandchildren Lacey, Alanna, Colton, & Jordan, brother-in-law Ray and niece Connie.

Gloria was born on September 19, 1937 at home on her grandparents’ farm in Cullman County, Alabama. She was what was considered ‘sooo little’ at the time, they wrapped her in a blanket & placed her in a shoebox to keep her warm, thus earning her the nickname ‘Bity’. Gloria enjoyed family times, attended church, graduated from Oxford high (1955), business school, & later in life, PLCC (summa cum laude 1993). She worked in a movie theatre and electric co. in AL. After moving to Akron, she worked at NRM, Home Centers & Edwin Shaw hospital, where she worked as a medical assistant until her retirement in 2004.

Gloria was a kind, loving woman who enjoyed life! She loved bowling, golfing, gardening, butterflies & Dr. Pepper! Above all that, she especially loved her grandchildren & great grandchildren.

Gloria was the best mom, mother-in-law, grandma, & friend anyone could have. In peace, Go fly with the butterflies, Bity!

In lieu of flowers the family wishes you to donate to Grace House Akron, Special Olympics, or Alzheimer's Foundation.

Family & friends may visit from 5-7PM on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025 at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Interment will follow immediately at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
