Today, September 3, 2025, my mom, Helen Reznik Butler, went home to be with the Lord. She was proceeded in death by daughter, Dana O’Donnell; parents, John and Catherine Reznik; and brother, Paul Reznik.
Survived by daughter, Dawn Butler; grandson, Chris O’Donnell; great granddaughter, Layla O’Donnell; best friends, Mary Ann Schneider and Mary Maynor; adopted son-in-law, Russell Streby and his family; grand-dog, Bell Butler; and many wonderful cousins and friends.
A very special and heartfelt thanks goes out to Hospice of the Western Reserve and mom’s beautiful family of neighbors, Roger and Betty, Donna and Larry, Brenda and Paul, Cindy and Steve, and Linda. Her neighbors were extended family to mom, and she cherished them all.
Mom loved family, animals, nature, and music. She was truly one of the strongest women I’ve ever known, and so very proud of her Hungarian heritage.
My mother was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Summit County’s new humane society in mom’s name.
As she was not a big fan of funerals, we will have a celebration of her life bonfire this fall. Bonfires with roasting hot dogs was truly her favorite thing to do.
