Helen Overfield

CUYAHOGA FALLS -Helen Elizabeth Overfield (nee Cartwright), 94, passed away Tuesday, 27 September, 2005. Mrs. Overfield was born 30 October, 1910 in Charlestown, IN the third child of William Edward and Margaret Bell Long Cartwright. She moved to Akron, OH with her family in 1917 and attended Robinson Elementary and Akron East High School graduating in 1928. She moved to Cuyahoga Falls, OH in February, 1946 and had been a member of the Cuyahoga Falls First United Methodist Church for over fifty years. She was an avid seamstress and retired in 1985 from Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. with 18 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Audra Z. Overfield; brother and sister-in-law, Carl David and Mabel M. Cartwright; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy M. and Delos O. Jividen. She is survived by sons, Donald L. and Kenneth W. Overfield; daughter, Lois J. Kohut, all of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 pm Friday, Sept. 30 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, Rev. Marvin Brown officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park, Fairlawn, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the First United Methodist Church 245 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 or Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service 3358 Ridgewood Road Akron, OH 44333.
