Jeffrey Dale Taylor

Jeffrey Dale Taylor, “Jitterbug”, 69, passed away unexpectedly but yet peacefully Thursday, May 25th, 2023 in his home in Akron.  Jeff was born on August 18, 1953 in Sandusky, Ohio to Mary Kay Jenkins (Riffle) and raised by the only father he knew, Charles “Jack” Jenkins.  Jeff has 3 siblings Joyce Hogan, John (Lisa) Jenkins, and Jody (Teresa) Jenkins.

He was a graduate of North High School Class of 1971.  He was a jack of all trades from working at a car wash in his youth to being a construction worker to finally retiring while doing warehouse work in 2016.

He married Susan McCabe in 1980, celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary on May 17th.   Jeff and Susan had 3 daughters, Chelsie Renée Taylor, Desirée Marie Taylor, and Lindsey Nichole Bickley (Taylor).

Avid sports fan. Gambling man. Loved to play softball, cards, fish, the Christmas season, coaching his daughters in many sports in their younger years, cheating at Scrabble while sunbathing with his wife “Ooz”, going on neighborhood walks and lounging on the couch with his four legged “baby girl” Idgie, figuring out the last few puzzle pieces that his wife had been working on, and just recently enjoyed being included in a NASCAR pick’em league.  He loved his conversations around the pool with Desirée about music, current sporting events, and movies and hacking at golf balls with Lindsey at Paradise Lakes.

Always looking forward to his annual camping trip to Allegany State Park with close friends and family where he’d spend his days playing cornhole and extreme bocce and once night fell, he’d build the best campfire on Gypsy Trail.

He also enjoyed working on an abundant amount of house projects with his best buddy and only son-in- law Scott Bickley, finishing one project, on to the next, only to brag about their completed work in between. He has been a proud grandfather for the last ten years to three strapping young boys Tanner Bickley, Nathaniel Bickley & Thackery Bickley. He longed for slumber parties and playing the crawl with them. He always made it a point to “tighten them up” and kept their piggybanks filled.

We could not mention Jitterbug without including his favorite hangout, The Carovillese Club, where both many drinks and stories were shared throughout the years. He was proud to be from North Hill and lending a hand is what he did best.

Jeff was a loving Husband, Father, Father-in-law, Paw, Uncle & Friend. He will be truly missed by all.

Greeted in Heaven by his mother Mary Kay, father Jack, daughter Chelsie, and grandpups Rizzo and Ozzie.
