John R. Perkins, 76, a longtime resident of Cuyahoga Falls and most recently of Stow, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026.

Born on October 23, 1949, in Akron, Ohio, John was one of four sons of the late Lenox and Kathryn (Schonauer) Perkins. He was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and went on to earn a master’s degree in Education from The University of Akron.

John dedicated many years to shaping young minds as a teacher with the Plain Local School District, from which he later retired. He was a member of the Summit County Teachers Association.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Perkins and Lenox Perkins III.

He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Keith (Debra) Perkins; his nieces, Beth Perkins, Heather Perkins (Jordan Virzi), and Denise Williams; as well as dear friends and extended family members including special cousin, Jamie Sue Bryd.

Honoring John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2141 5th St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Guests are welcome to visit with the family one hour prior from 10-11 am, also at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
