John Robert Sauner passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025 and is now home with his Lord and Savior. Born on February 11th, 1963, in Ravenna, Ohio to Betty and John Sauner and the youngest of three children.
John’s love story all started on a blind date with his wife Christine on September 27th, 1997. John and Chris celebrated almost 25 years of happiness and love together. They were married on July 7th, 2000 where they celebrated a beautiful marriage of faith and commitment. As a devoted husband, John embodied partnership and unconditional love for his wife and family.
A proud graduate of Rootstown Highschool 1981 and attended Kent State University. One of his greatest passions was teaching scuba diving for many years alongside his father. He carried his love for hobbies, especially outdoors with grilling, gardening, memorable fishing trips with his Uncle Tim. He loved his Ohio teams, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes and one of his favorite days of the year was the OSU vs Michigan game.
His love for baking will forever be cherished with his famous Christmas sugar cookies and other holiday treats. John appreciated the simple things in life, but his family and friends were his true heart and soul.
John worked at Flagstar Bank for 26 years where many lasting and cherished friendships were created. He developed a strong bond with many customers not only professionally but personally over the years. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and lived his life as a witness with devotion and purpose.
John was preceded in death by his father John Sauner, Sr. and beloved son Alan Garner. He leaves behind a loving family, wife Christine and son David Garner, daughter Natalie (Jeremy) Dixon. Mother Betty Sauner and stepfather Rich Wise. Sisters Denise (Dale) Sloan and Deb (Larry) Bailey. Brother-in-law Pat (Kathy) Mascio and sister-in-law, Carolyn (John) Roussel. Daughter in law Theresa (Alan) Garner. His granddaughters Audrey, Olivia, Avarie, Austynne and Emberlie who will always fondly refer to him as Papa. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and family.
Cremation has taken placed. At this time, no services will be held.
