Joseph E. Myers, 74, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, with his wife, Wendy, and son, Louie, at his side.
Joe grew up in Silver Lake, Ohio, the third of six kids of a salesman and a Rosie the Riveter. Joe was a jester from day one - he enjoyed a good practical joke and was the life of the party.
Joe was married to Wendy for 48 years. Three years younger than him, he delighted in referring to her as his “child bride”. Together they raised a family of which he was immeasurably proud. Joe loved talking about his kids to anyone who would listen.
Joe is survived by his wife, Wendy, children, Molly (Patrick Chambers) and Louie, and two grandchildren, Beau and Paige, who brought him so much joy, siblings, Linda Tilton (Steve), Gerry Myers (Donna), Judy Babak (George), sisters-in-law, Clare Myers, Becky Calaman (Doug), and Sherry Pettit, dearest friend, Lee Hamill, special cousins Patty and Don Richwine, numerous nieces and nephews, his beloved lapdog, Maggie, and many other family members and friends.
Besides the pets he adored, including dogs (most recently Mickey), cats, hamsters, lizards, birds, fish, and a turtle, Joe will be joining his parents, Louis and Mary Lou, brothers, Buddy and Andy, mother-in-law, Winifred Pettit, brothers-in-law, Steve Pettit, David Pettit, and best friend, Jim Hamill, in heaven.
He will be remembered for his honesty, his wit, and his tenacity.
Joe donated his body to Northeast Ohio Medical University. The family would like to thank the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Fighters, the hospice team, including Dr. Wilcox, Shannon, Melissa, Julie, Natalie, Laura, Lucas, and Charlotte, and the home care team, including April and Saif.
Calling hours will be held on December 5 from 4-7 at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on December 6 at 12:30.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made on Joe’s behalf to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association on behalf of the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Fighters IAFF Local 494.
