Larry Allen Cross, 78, of Stow, Ohio died peacefully and was reunited with his dear wife Virginia Rae on January 9, 2026. Larry was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Lottie Cross on March 13, 1947. He attended Ellet High School. At age 18, Larry started working hard and did so until his retirement from Goodyear/Meggitt Aircraft Braking in 2002. Larry loved spending time with his family and watching TV, especially old westerns and the Gameshow Network. He had a $300 monthly cable bill and a cheese addiction. (Although most recently it was hard candy.) His grandkids Evan and Blake took him to the grocery store weekly to stock up on cheese and pretzel sticks for himself and rawhide for his dog. In his younger days, Larry enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He and Virginia liked to go camping and boating in Southern Ohio. Virginia preceded him in death in 2023, and Larry was never quite the same after losing the love of his life. It gives the family peace imagining them both whole and walking hand-in-hand beside a big blue lake in Heaven.
Larry leaves his children Jennifer Peters (Greg), Dale Pyles (Justine) and Angie and Cassie Cross; grandchildren Erica Williams (Chris), Brooke Vang (Zi), Evan Peters, and Blake Peters; great-grandchildren Christopher, Leo, and Hallie Williams, and the newest addition, Layla Rae Vang. (He was thrilled to get to meet and hold her for the first time at Thanksgiving.); brothers Gary (Precy), Mark, and Barry; and nieces and nephews April, Jennifer, Eric, Lisa, Helen, Heather, and Cheryl. He also leaves behind his buddy Ringo the Portuguese Waterdog who he adopted from a rescue in 2024 and who never left his side.
Special thanks to Tia and Amber at Tallmadge Health and Rehab for treating Larry like a member of your own families. You were his favorite “lady friends.” Another thank you goes to Compassionate Care Hospice for all the extra love and support you provided Larry recently.
Larry was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at Redeemer on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. (2141 5th Street Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio). Pastor Paul Frerichs will preside with graveside services immediately following at Markillie Cemetery, Hudson, Ohio where he will be laid to rest beside Virginia. A reception to follow.
