Listen to Obituary

Loretta Irene Mace (Peebles), age 87, peacefully passed away on December 28, 2025 at The Ridgewood Hospice Center.

Loretta, affectionately known as Rusty, was born October 14, 1938 to parents, Warder and Delores Mace. Rusty graduated from Central Hower High School in the class of 1956, where she proudly wore the title of head majorette. That Fall, she married Nelson (Bob) Peebles. For many years, the family resided in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio due to his serving in the Air Force. Later, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona and then returned home to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Rusty, after having raised four children, set her sights on active employment. With her lively personality, she was an exemplary employee at The Triple Crown, Holiday Inn in North Canton, Frankies, Back Streets and Lefever's and finally, after nine years of service, retired from Sterling Jewelers in 2011. Rusty loved her two cats, Taco & Tex, and planting flowers on her deck. She fully decorated her deck in red, white, and blue for every major American holiday. She was a voracious reader and liked to study world maps and world history.

Leaving to cherish her memory are children Michael Peebles (wife, Debra); Kelly Leiby (partner, Rob) and Robert Peebles (partner, Kristi). She was predeceased by her first daughter, Julia Cox (husband, Jim). She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Kevin Peebles, Kirsten Windle, Sara Cox Parades, Jimmy Cox, Nicole Warren and Raina Leiby, seven great grandchildren, sister, Susan Truby (husband, Tim) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

No one will forget her fiery spirit and stunning red hair!
