Loretta May Hurite (née Lloyd), 87, passed away early Saturday morning, December 27, 2025, at Hudson Grande Senior Living.
Loretta was born May 24, 1938, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Kenneth and Margaret Campbell Lloyd.
She was a graduate of Latrobe High School, married soon after, and moved to Akron, Ohio, where she raised her family. As her children aged, Loretta returned to her studies at Kent State University, earning an Associate Degree in Business. During this time, she also learned how to play the organ and became the church organist for Epiphany Lutheran Church, a role she held for 20 years. Loretta also worked at First National Bank for many years. In her later years, she was involved in various political and social causes.
Loretta is survived by her sister, Donna (William) Smith of Latrobe, Pennsylvania; brother, Kenneth Lloyd of Latrobe, Pennsylvania; four children: son Mark (Jayne Allshouse) Hurite of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; daughter Kathie (Bob) Wilbur of Malabar, Florida; daughter Dianne (Eric) Emch of Hudson, Ohio; and son Alan (Priya Vin) Hurite of West Orange, New Jersey; eight grandchildren, Allison, Sarah, Susan, Ashley, Rebecca, Ryan, Aaron, and Leela; and six great-grandchildren.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents.
Private services will be held by the family at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home.
