Louise Royce

Louise Royce, née Holmes, 93, passed away March 9, 2022 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by husband Rodney D. Royce and is survived by daughter Diana (Paul) Johnson of Illinois, son David (Mollie) Royce of Akron, granddaughter Sylvia (Stéphane) Meyer of France, and great-grandsons Nathanael and Zachary.

Louise was born and raised in Washington State and then graduated from Willamette University (Salem, Oregon) where she was a Delta Gamma member. After college she moved to Seattle where she met and married her husband in 1955. He was a National Park Service Ranger with the most recent assignment being Cuyahoga Valley National Park. She was a member of Grandview United Methodist Church Women, the Summit County Genealogical Society, and the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed historical research (especially genealogy), loved nature, camping and hiking, and made fabulous pies.

Cremation has taken place and ashes will be buried next to her husband in Chelsea, Michigan. A memorial service will be held at 11am on March 19 at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. Friends may call an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Grandview United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls.
