Marcia Medkeff Hall

April 23, 1940 - October 3, 2021

Marcia, 81, was born in Akron, Ohio, to parents Anita M. and Wilbur F. Medkeff.  She graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School, class of '57, and Wittenberg University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education.  While there, she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.  Immediately after graduation, as a member of the University Choir, she and her future husband Lindley, toured through eight European countries in 42 days, performing at various singing engagements.  For the past 45 years Marcia and her husband lived in the San Francisco Bay area, where she passed away peacefully at home.

Marcia was a sixth-grade teacher extraordinaire.  She challenged all her students, and they became good learners because she made the learning fun.  In addition to teaching, while living in Ohio, she volunteered at the Cleveland Sight Center.  It was during this time that she taught herself braille and became a certified transcriber for the Library of Congress.  She was artistic and creative, and became known for her beautifully handcrafted birthday and holiday cards.

Marcia loved travelling with her husband, and cherished their trip to her ancestral home of Ireland and England, as well as trips to Spain.  For many years they celebrated their wedding anniversaries with a return to Cape Cod.  Some of her favorite local travels included trips to the Pacific Ocean beach towns of Santa Monica and Mendocino.

She is survived by Lindley, her husband of 57 years; brother, Jack (Laura) Medkeff of Zanesville, Ohio; nephews, a niece, two grand-nephews, and two grand-nieces.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, W. Thomas Medkeff.

Marcia's life will be celebrated at a graveside service on Thursday, 14 October, at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakwood Cemetery, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.  Officiating the service will be Marcia's cousin, Rev. Brian Medkeff, of Mechanicsburg, PA.  Friends and family are invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be sent to your favorite charity. Arrangements entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
