We share the passing of Michael C. Wiesner.
Frank, Bill, Tom, Paul, Dick, George, Mike- the seven Wiesner boys. They often introduced themselves this way. “I’m Mike -- of Frank, Bill, Tom, Paul, Dick, George, Mike.”
We share the peaceful death of Michael Charles Wiesner, the youngest son of Frank and Elizabeth Wiesner, Mike grew up with six brothers, a bond that shaped his sense of humor and his love of family.
Born February 12, 1951 in Neenah, Wisconsin, Mike carried his roots with him throughout his life — in his values, his outlook, and his support of the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. He later moved to Centerville, Ohio, where he graduated from Archbishop Alter High School and met his partner for life, Marueen. He and Maureen married in 1973 and later had two girls, Molly and Mary Beth.
Mike attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison and received his Bachelor of Arts from Wright State University. He spent his professional life as a salesperson, at Karolton Envelope, Voss Auto Group, and La-Z-Boy. These roles were well suited to his natural gift for making others feel comfortable — usually laughing along the way and putting everyone at ease. He believed deeply in the value of teaching by sharing what he knew and encouraging curiosity.
That gift also found a perfect home during his years at Wild Birds Unlimited in Cuyahoga Falls, where customers still ask about him years later. He cherished his time there helping people feel welcome and confident.
In retirement, Mike served as a trainman, platform attendant, and caboose attendant with the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, where his warmth and love of people once again brought joy to others. He delighted in welcoming passengers, sharing the experience of the rails, and helping make each journey memorable.
Mike is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Maureen; children, Molly and Patrick Farrell, Mary Beth Wiesner, and John Filon; his grandchildren, Deanna, Rylie, William, Ben, and Jack, and the many Wiesner family members spread from coast to coast and around the world.
Mike will be remembered for his easy laughter, his sunny outlook, his ability to make people feel seen, and the steady devotion he showed to those he loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Humane Society of Summit County at https://summithumane.org/give/ or your local Humane Society. We also ask that you enjoy a shot of Maker's Mark bourbon, take time to watch the birds, cheer on your favorite sports team, wave at a train, hug a loved one and remember him.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026 at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
