Listen to Obituary

Richard “Dick” Brady, 91 (and ½) passed away peaceful at Cleveland Clinic Justin T Rogers Hospice Care Center on March 23rd, 2026, less than 4 months after sending his beloved wife to heaven.

Dick was born in Akron, Ohio on North Hill, September 6, 1934, to Dr. Charles F. and Catherine S. Brady. He was a graduate of St. Vincent High School & served proudly in the Army National Guard. On October 13, 1962, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Brislinger. Together they began the adventure of a lifetime.

Dick took the meaning of devout to a new level. His devotion to his family was first and foremost especially his devotion to his wife as her caretaker for many years. He was a devout catholic and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cuyahoga Falls. He was THE most devoted Notre Dame fan.

His servant heart and spirit lent itself to 26 years as an Akron Firefighter. He served with dedication at many stations, met many lifelong friends, and retired from Station 7. The guys never ate as well again!

Dick was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Rosemary “Rosie”, his parents, His father and mother-in-law Mac and Louise Brislinger, his brothers Charles F. Brady, Jr. and Kevin Brady, sisters-in-law Sheila Brady and Kay Brislinger, brothers-in-law Joseph Brislinger and Robert Krantz.

Surviving to cherish many wonderful memories are his daughters, Colleen Cox (Pedro Beltran), Cathy Harget (Mike), grandchildren, Amanda Nagle ( Lt Col. Jon), Conner Cox (Keely), Great Grandsons, Brady & Nolan Cox, sisters-in-law Annette Brady & Virginia Krantz, brother-in-law Tom Brislinger and his “extra daughter” Debra DiPaola (Sam) & their girls Victoria & Ella, long-time dear friends Betsy & Scott and Terri & Steve, his “Shimmy Partner” Tiffany, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

The family would like to thank with the utmost gratitude, the nurses, doctors, staff & volunteers at the Cleveland Clinic Justin T Rogers Hospice Care Center, the 4200 4th floor nursing staff at Cleveland Clinic Akron General, especially Adrienne, Lindsey, Francess, and Shannon who knew the way to his heart was through chocolate pudding. Thank you to Gloria & Monica at Edwin Shaw Acute Rehab and a very special thank you to Dr. Daria Krivosheya (and Lena) & Dr. Laurie Matt-Amaral for their dedicated medical care compassion and assistance in navigating dad’s treatments over the years. Also, thank you to Sonni & J.J., the best “double driveway” neighbors and the rest of the 7th Street gang for their generosity and care.

We will never hear the Notre Dame fight song the same again. There will never be a waffle as delicious as Papa’s, a firehouse pot of chili as savory, a bowl of famous mashed potatoes at the holidays, or a cinnamon roll better than any bakery. The fairways and greens will miss his colorful Irish wit, the crash of a strike or spare may fade away, and the waves of North Myrtle will never be ridden the same. We will all miss those baby blue & brown eyes of his, but he leaves us the legacy of selfless love and devotion to carry forward in his honor.

Friends may call from 9-11 am on April 11th, 2026, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls OH. A fireman’s “Last Alarm” will be held prior to Mass of the Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

Memorials can be made to the Justin T Rogers Cleveland Clinic Hospice Care Center, or Akron Fireman’s Benevolent Fund.
