Richard Dale Green

Richard (Dick) Green passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on August 9, 2025 following a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Dick was born in Akron to Enid and Dale Green. He graduated from Buchtel High School, Class of 1963 and was on the swim team. He attended The Ohio State University, graduating in 1968 with a degree in Anthropology. After a short stint teaching Earth Science, Dick decided to join his dad in the family plumbing business, Woolcock Plumbing & Heating, which had been started by his maternal grandfather in 1919. He retired after having had devoted 37 years to the profession.

Dick's interest in minerology and collecting micromounts in Ohio, New Mexico and the United Kingdom was an important part of his life. He was an active member of the Cleveland Micromount Society. His other avocation was snorkeling, and he and his wife, Joanne, went on numerous trips to the Caribbean and Central America, always looking for the perfect reef.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Vicki. He leaves his wife, Joanne, of 57 years, daughter, Erin Ferber, son-in-law, Dane, grandson, Logan of Basking Ridge, New Jersey and son Christopher, of Austin, Texas.

Dick was devoted to his family and spent quality time with them, hiking, playing baseball and swimming in the backyard pool. He will be remembered when his friends hike the valley trails and his habit of walking his neighborhood streets at 5AM was well-known to the Falls Police. His quiet and funny sense of humor was enjoyed by all. But most of all, Dick will be remembered as a kind and caring man who listened to everyone, was a good friend, and a wonderful husband and father who will not be soon forgotten.

Guests are welcome to visit with the family on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 12-12:30 pm at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. A memorial service will begin immediately following visitation at 12:30 pm, also at the funeral home.
