Rita Young

Rita M. Young, 94 years young, passed away October 23, 2021. Mrs. Young was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, raised in Barberton and resided in Cuyahoga Falls most of her life. She was a kind, loving and generous person who devoted her life to her family.  She was proud to have retired as a "Household Engineer" (as she referred to herself), which involved tending to her beautiful home built by her husband, being a devoted wife, and being the best mom to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Mrs. Young was very active, and up until her passing, was serving on the Board of Directors for the Falls Catholic Credit Union.  She was also a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Etta (O'Shaughnessy) Murphy, husband, Richard Young; son, Rick Young, and son-in-law, George Quick. She is survived by children, Patricia Quick, David Young and Chris Hawks, Diana Chmielewski, John and Sheryl Young and adopted daughter, Mary Rongyos; daughter-in-law, Sue Young; grandchildren, Teri and Troy Patchin, Stacy Quick, Chris Chmielewski (Maddy), Melissa and Rob Hickok, Shanna Bragg, Rich and Jamie Young, Joshua Young and Jordana Young; great-grandchildren, Tyler Chmielewski (Victoria), Brittany Siciliano, Corey and Hunter Textor, Jesse and Alexis Patchin, Riley, Owen and Austin Chmielewski and Alex Bragg. And many, many longtime friends.

Guests are welcome for visitation from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021 at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.  She will be laid to rest with her husband at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations, if desired, may be made a charity of your choice in Rita's name.
