Robert McFadden

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Robert J. McFadden K8RJM, 81, passed away March 18, 2021. He was born in Akron to the late Walter and Theresa McFadden. Robert grew up in the St. Vincent's Parish serving as an Alter Boy and graduating from St. Vincent's High School, where he still has many friends and contacts from high school days. After graduating Bob joined the U.S. Air Force hoping to become a pilot. However the Air Force had different plans for him, and he became an instructor building B52 Bombers.

After the service Bob returned to Akron and attended Akron University to pursue a degree in Electronical Engineering. Which led him to a career of 41 years with Morse Controls, IMO Industries, where he received several Ad Hoc Awards for machinery design.

At an early age Bob became interested in HAM Radio and received his license and eventually became a volunteer examiner. He was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Amateur HAM Radio Club and served as president for 12 years. Over the years collecting all the bells, whistles, tuners and radios that any operator would ever need. And Bob's "Shack" will be open for inspection (soon).

You could always find Bob on Monday nights at the Riverfront Cruise In with his beloved Blue Bird. After retirement he and Beth enjoyed traveling the country seeing some of the world that he thought he never wanted to see, but was glad he did.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 47 years, Beth Ann; daughter, Melissa (Ray) Burnett and their family; siblings, William (Marlene), Evelyn (Al) Farley, Mary (Glenn) Houk, Eileen (Mike) Hurn and John (Anita). Also left to mourn are many other nieces, nephews, relative and friends.

A special thank you from the family to Summa Hospital doctors and nurses on T3.
