Sadie Jaber

Sadie Jaber (née Sadie Elias Naim) was welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord on January 26, 2024, one day after her 95th birthday.

A beloved mother, wife, and sitto, Sadie was born in the Bekaa Valley region of Lebanon, in the tiny but beautiful village of Khirbet Kanafar, on January 25, 1929. She was one of three children born to Helayneh (née Salem) and Elias Naim. Her family cultivated olives and her father served as town mayor. She married her loving husband, Ibrahim Jaber, in 1949. Together, they began their family in Lebanon before immigrating to the United States in 1968 where they settled in Akron, Ohio.

Sadie brought her keen knowledge of farming and gardening with her to the United States. Along with her husband, they grew their own fruits, vegetables, and herbs for their family for many years. She was equally skilled at ornamental gardening, creating beauty around her home for her family and friends to enjoy.  Her love of gardening continues on in her children and grandchildren, many of whom had the privilege of learning from her.

As well as a gifted gardener, she was also an exceptionally talented seamstress. Sadie had a successful, 30-year career as a seamstress, working at local department stores in Akron where she specialized in wedding attire. Throughout her career, she helped countless brides prepare for their wedding day. She happily used her talents to serve her family, preparing the clothes they wore for some of the most important occasions in their lives. She was a skilled cook and baker, and had a passion for both, which she passed on to her children. Sadie gave her best at everything she did, no matter how big or small.

Of all her passions in life, her family was her greatest. She loved her children with all her heart and has finally been reunited with those of them who preceded her in death, including her loving daughter, Suad, and loving sons, George, Milhem, and Elias. Without doubt, they joyfully welcomed her into their arms when she was called home. She is also preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ibrahim, and her parents, Elias and Helayneh. Sadie is survived by her daughters Therese (Joseph) Mullin and Asmahan (JC) Jaber, her grandchildren Amal, Gigi, Najwa (Theodore) Wilson, Nadia, Elizabeth, and great grandchildren Emma and Annabel, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Sadie enjoyed visiting with family and friends over ‘ahwi (coffee), spending time in her garden, and simply being with her children and grandchildren. She loved her family deeply and cherished her friends. She is loved and missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2nd, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home in Cuyahoga Falls. Interment to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
