CUYAHOGA FALLS- Shirley S O’Hara of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away peacefully at the Justin T. Rogers, Hospice Care Center with family by her side on July 9, 2023. Born in Garden City, Kansas on January 16, 1935, then moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1949. She was a proud 1953 graduate of the “U High” (University of Michigan High School), Ann Arbor Michigan. She attended Eastern Michigan University majoring in Occupational Therapy, after raising her three children, she proudly completed her bachelor’s at the University of Akron.
Shirley loved to spend time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, traveling, reading, playing bridge and especially loved to have friends and family visit, her door was always open.
Shirley was an active member and volunteer at the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, active in College Club and the Akron Women’s Club.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Vera (Curtis) and Lloyd H Shoop; sister, Mary Sue Thomassen and great grandson, Hunter Michael Crittenden. Shirley is survived by Donald C. O’Hara, husband of nearly 67 years, was a loving mother of three children, Shannon O Weldon, Patricia S. Lauck, and Thomas M O’Hara. She also leaves her wonderful grandchildren, Andy (Ashley) Weldon, Kevin (Kristina) Weldon, Kathleen Jaworoswki, Jennifer (Sean) Crittenden, Kenneth Lauck, Scott Lauck (Brooke, children's mother), Donald Lauck (Jesse, children's mother), and great-grandchildren, Phil Jaworowski, Annabelle, Balee and Chloie Weldon, Kayla and Connor Michael Crittenden, Aiden, Addyson and Ally Parker Lauck and Jaxson Lauck.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to a 1 PM funeral service on Monday July 17, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Shirley's name; to the United Methodist Church Music Ministry or to Justin T. Rodgers Hospice Care Center
