Theresa "Terri" Gross Fugate

Theresa “Terri” Gross Fugate passed away January 26, 2026, at the home of her son & daughter-in-law in Farmersville, Texas.

She was born Theresa Dawn Aubele on January 6, 1943, to Robert P. & Catherine Aubele in Cleveland, Ohio. Her mother passed away when she was six. In 1952, her father married Hilda Ilene McColgan and they moved with their six children to a home on School Avenue in Cuyahoga Falls.

On September 29, 1962, Terri married Ronald Neal Gross. They lived in Cuyahoga Falls with their two sons, Robbie and Tommy, and enjoyed time with family, traveling, and camping. Terri worked 20 years at a local pharmacy.

Terri moved to Texas in 2006 and spent 11 years in Groves and Beaumont before losing her home and most of her possessions to the floods of Hurricane Harvey in 2017.

Terri returned to Ohio. In 2020, she married SFC James Fugate (US Army, Retired) in Lancaster, Ohio, where she resided until she was diagnosed with cancer this past December and moved to Texas to be cared for by her son & daughter-in-law.

Terri is survived by her husband James Fugate of Lancaster, Ohio, her sons & daughters-in-law Robert “Robbie” & Melissa Gross of Farmersville, Texas, H. Thomas “Tommy” & Kathy Gross of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, grandsons Thomas Gross and Jacob Gross of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, sister Diane Miller of Uniontown, Ohio, and step-son David & Malinda Morris and family of Lancaster, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40+ years, Ronald Neal Gross, their infant son, her father Robert P. Aubele, adoptive mother Ilene Aubele, and mother Catherine Aubele.

Guests are welcome for visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a funeral service to begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Burial will follow at Northlawn Cemetery, Cuyahoga Falls.
