Ann K. Switka (Laczko), 85, of Stow passed away February 25, 2021 at Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls. Ann was born in 1935 in Clune, Pennsylvania to John and Katherine Laczko. She moved to Youngstown when she was a young child. She attended Holy Name School and Ursuline High School, graduating in 1953.
She retired in 2002 from the City of Youngstown where she worked for 30 years for the Community Development Agency (CDA). She moved to Stow in 2014. She was a member of St. Matthias Church and Our Lady of Hungary, both in Youngstown.
She was a genuine “Hungarian Gypsy” ready to travel anywhere at the drop of a hat. She was fluent in Hungarian and used to enjoy having conversations with her mother and sister that only they could understand. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph; her parents, Katherine and John Laczko; her sister, Janice Popovich; and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Evelyn Laczko.
She leaves behind her daughter, Cathy Covell (Bryan) of Stow; her son, Paul (Carol) Switka of Streetsboro; and two grandchildren, Barbara K. Switka of Hartsville, TN. And Bryce Covell of Stow.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home. There will be a private family service and burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
